Solar Plan Review Process

Effective February 1, 2021

  • A set of plans is required to be submitted with a completed Solar Permit Application. Please indicate whether it is ground or roof mount on the application. Incomplete applications will be returned and the plans will not be reviewed until a completed application is received by our office. All plans and applications must be submitted to the Resource Management office in person or emailed to: resmgt@boonecountymo.org . Do not submit to individual employees.
  • A reference number will be assigned. Please reference your number when contacting our office or when submitting additional information.
  • A $30 plan review fee will be collected with the permit fee.
  • Please allow a minimum of 10 days for the plan review to be completed.
  • Plan requires approval by the utility company. It is the responsibility of the applicant/home owner to contact their electric provider.
  • Plans must include the information contained on the Solar PV Permit Checklist
  • Permit fee based on the total cost of the project.
  • Once plans are approved the permit can be issued. If you applied online, you will receive an email informing you of the cost of the permit and instructions on how the fees may be paid.
  • If solar installation will require an upgrade to the existing electric service a separate electrical upgrade permit will be required. Please complete and submit the Electric or Gas Only Permit Application in addition to the solar permit application.
  • 24-hour notice is required for all inspections. If the home will be without power please be sure to schedule your inspection accordingly; failure to schedule the inspection 24 hours in advance could result in the homeowner being without power until the next business day. Inspections must be scheduled by calling our office at (573) 886-4339.
