Poll Worker Information

Each year, up to 600 poll workers volunteer across Boone County. Poll workers are a vital part of Election Day and help ensure that every election runs smoothly. Workers set up and manage polling places, assist voters, and maintain the efficiency and integrity of the election process in Boone County.

Qualifications:

  • 18 years old or older
  • Registered Boone County voter
  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Completion of mandatory training before each election

Compensation:

  • Poll workers are paid a base rate of $160 per election
  • Additional pay is available for added responsibilities and completed trainings

Hours:

  • Polls are open on Election Day from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Poll workers report to their assigned poll at 4:30 a.m. and leave the poll after completing all duties after the polls close at 7:00 p.m.
