County Continues Work on 2011 Budget: The Boone County Commissioners and Boone County Auditor, June Pitchford, met with the directors of Human Resources and Planning and Building this week to discuss their preliminary budgets for the next fiscal year. Budget work sessions will continue throughout the month for all department directors. All non-court budgets are due to Pitchford by Sept. 1.

Biker Rally Rolls into Boone County: The National Bikers Roundup began this week at the Boone County Fairgrounds. The event, which continues through Sunday, is expected to attract 35,000 to 50,000 visitors. The minimum direct economic impact for the event is projected to be more than $6 million, with an expected expended impact of at least $11.4 million.
County Elections Go Paperless: The August 3 primary election was the first opportunity for citizens to use the County's new "EPollbook," an electronic voter processing system. Engraved Tiles Available: The Boone County Commission office is taking orders for engraved quarry tiles that will be placed on a wall in the Courthouse Square (near the corner of Eighth and Walnut). The tiles are 4X8 and can be engraved with names, titles, birth dates, or any appropriate inscription. All proceeds go to the Miscellaneous Courthouse Square project fund. MAC Board Meeting: Boone County Presiding Commissioner Ken Pearson and Southern Commissioner Karen M. Miller will attend the annual Missouri Association of Counties Annual Board Meeting August 10 to 12 at Camden on the Lake in Lake Ozarks, Mo. The Missouri Association of Counties (MAC), founded in 1972 and celebrating its 38th year of service, is a nonprofit corporation established to provide assistance to its member counties in matters pertaining to local, state, and federal government activities.
