2010 Budget Update

On Friday, Boone County Auditor June Pitchford gave the Boone County Commission an update on the county's 2010 budget. During the work session, Pitchford proposed a revised reserve (fund balance) policy that would set a minimum and maximum percentage of undesignated fund balance for the county's three major funds (general, road and bridge and law enforcement services). A new policy is being proposed because the current guidelines do not give the Commission enough financial flexibility to deal with varying economic situations. Pitchford also reviewed projected revenues and expenditures for 2009/2010 and supplemental budget requests from departments and elected officials.
