November Declared Homeless Youth Awareness Month

On Tuesday, the Boone County Commission declared November to be Homeless Youth Awareness Month with a proclamation presented by Presiding Commissioner Ken Pearson to Sol House, a service of Rainbow House, at the Daniel Boone Regional Library. Last year, the National Runaway Switchboard received 2,562 calls in Missouri from homeless/runaway youth, and 230 of those calls were within the (573) area code. Every month, Rainbow House is contacted by at least ten local youth who have been abused or kicked out of their home. The Commission encourages citizens to strive to protect Boone County's youth and make every effort to empower young people to make healthy choices and become productive members of our community.
