Boone County Children's Services Board to Host Conference Aimed at Reducing Youth Violence

February 28, 2020— The Boone County Children’s Services Board will host the Voices for Collective Impact: Youth Violence Prevention Conference on March 12, 2020. The day-long event will feature local experts in crime data, trauma issues, and the complicated grief surrounding loss by youth homicide and will culminate in community action planning around reducing violence within Boone County. Recent increases in violence have led the Boone County Children’s Services Board to host this event.

“As a member of the Boone County Children’s Services Board, I am thrilled to see our community come together around the issue of youth violence prevention. This is a topic that touches everyone and affects our county in many ways. Having the opportunity to collectively learn, plan, and then see our plans come to fruition is truly exciting,” states Leigh Spence, member of the Boone County Children’s Services Board and Chairperson for the conference planning committee. Following the conference, targeted funding opportunities will be available for interested parties who wish to apply.

The conference will be held at the Missouri United Methodist Church, 204 S 9th St, in Columbia, Missouri, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Registration is currently open to the public until March 4. Those interested in joining planning efforts for the community are encouraged to attend. Conference information is available at: https://www.showmeboone.com/community-services/collective-impact/
