Boone County Wins Award for the Boone County Master Plan

Boone County Wins "Outstanding Plan Award" from the Missouri Chapter of the American Planning Association.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (October 23, 2025) - Boone County Resource Management is proud to announce that Boone County was awarded the Outstanding Plan Award for 2025 from the Missouri Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) for the Boone County Master Plan. The "Outstanding Plan Award" is a yearly award granted by the APA Missouri Chapter that recognizes a plan that "advances the science and art of planning," according to the nominations form. The award was announced at the annual APA conference in St. Louis, Missouri.

The award recognizes the County's work, along with the prime consultant on the project, The i5 Group, to create a master plan document with public participation at the center of its creation. The plan's formulation included contributions from the public, an advisory committee composed of various community members, and a technical committee representing utility and service providers.

The Master Plan will help guide development decisions within unincorporated Boone County. Boone County Government began the master planning process in April 2023 to develop a vision for our communities and establish countywide priorities for future growth and land use planning for the next 10 to 20 years. The Master Plan was adopted by the Boone County Commission on June 12, 2025.

All documents and information on the Master Plan, including the future land use map, discovery report, presentation materials, and the Master Plan document can be found at the project's website, www.OurBoone.com.
