Boone County Master Plan Involvement Opportunities Available

August 28, 2023 – Individuals who live and/or work in Boone County are invited to become involved in the Boone County Master Plan development process. Current opportunities for involvement include an online survey; a virtual open house scheduled on Tuesday, September 12, 2023; and an in-person open house scheduled on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

For the first time in nearly 30 years, Boone County Government is undertaking a master planning process with the intention of developing a vision for our communities and establishing countywide priorities for future growth and land use planning. The Master Plan is a guide crafted with input from residents, businesses, and service providers.

By completing the Boone County Master Plan Survey available at www.Ourboone.com, individuals can help ensure that the Master Plan reflects the values and aspirations of the community. The survey will remain open until September 30, 2023.

The public is also invited to attend upcoming open houses, which will offer an opportunity to talk with the planning team and learn more about the master planning process. Current data already collected as part of the Master Plan process, such as population growth, land use patterns, and transportation, will also be discussed.

The first open house will be held virtually on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. Individuals interested in participating can register for the live online webinar by visiting www.Ourboone.com. The virtual open house may also be viewed at one of two remote locations:

  • The Centralia City Hall Community Room, 114 S. Rollins St, Centralia, hosted by Presiding Commissioner Kip Kendrick or
  • Southern Boone School District Central Office Board Room, 5275 Redtail Drive, Ashland, hosted by District I Commissioner Justin Aldred.

The second open house will be held in-person on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Boone Electric Community Room, 1413 Rangeline Street, Columbia. This will be a “drop by” style event with no formal presentation. Members of the public are encouraged to drop by anytime during the event.
