Boone County Office of Emergency Management Offers Community Emergency Response Team Training

May 3, 2023 – The Boone County Office of Emergency Management will conduct a free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training Practical during the month of May. This Practical is the hands-on portion of the CERT blended-learning online program which opens an exciting and flexible avenue for members of our community to get their CERT Basic Training. 

The CERT hybrid blended-learning model was developed by the University of Utah School of Medicine. It includes 12 hours of online lecture followed by up to 16 hours of hands-on practical training administered by Boone County Office of Emergency Management. This self-paced model reduces the amount of time spent in a traditional classroom setting.

• May 13-14, 2023: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day
• August 19-20, 2023: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day
• November 18-19, 2023: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day

To enroll in this CERT Basic Training blended-learning style course, participants must:

• be a resident of or employed in Boone County. (Non-county residents wishing to participate will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.  If possible, they will be referred to a local program where they reside.)
• be at least 18 years old.

Registration deadline for the May practical session is Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
