Boone County First Responders Conduct Active Shooter Incident Management Training
COLUMBIA, Mo. (October 22, 2025) - The Boone County Office of Emergency Management and Boone County Public Safety Advisory Committee are hosting a series of Active Shooter Incident Management (ASIM) Basic Training sessions. These courses, which combine lecture and tabletop exercises, are designed to strengthen coordination among law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, and 911 personnel during complex active threat incidents.
Developed by C3 Pathways, ASIM Basic provides nationally recognized frameworks for managing multi-agency responses to high-stress emergencies. The sessions will be taught by local instructors representing Boone County's public safety community.
"These trainings build on Boone County's efforts to strengthen unified command and improve coordination among all responder disciplines," said Emergency Management Director Chris Kelley. "Our goal is to ensure responders can make fast, coordinated decisions that save lives."
The first session will be held on Thursday, October 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri, 2101 Vandiver Dr, Columbia. Please note: Emergency vehicles will be present in the parking lot during this time as part of the scheduled training exercise. There is no actual emergency.
The Boone County Public Safety Advisory Committee brings together public safety, emergency management, and local government partners to strengthen preparedness, response, and recovery across Boone County and the surrounding region.
