2. Why does Boone County hold unclaimed property?

Missouri state law requires that, once property has been determined to have been abandoned, the county treasurer holds that property in trust for the owners or the owners' heirs for a period of three years. After three years, the property is turned over to the State of Missouri, to hold in custody until returned. To search the state's unclaimed property website, visit www.ShowMeMoney.com.
