Severe Weather Expected Tonight in Boone County
COLUMBIA, Mo. (March 10, 2026) - The National Weather Service (NWS) and the Boone County Office of Emergency Management are monitoring the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening across the region. In Boone County, storms may move through late in the afternoon and into the evening hours. Possible hazards include large hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and tornadoes.
Boone County north of I-70 faces the greatest severe weather threat, placing north Columbia and the communities of Sturgeon, Harrisburg, Centralia, and Hallsville at elevated risk. However, strong storms may impact the entire county as they move through the region. All residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, stay aware of any watches or warnings in effect, and identify a safe shelter location ahead of time.
Residents who experience property damage, downed trees, or other debris as a result of tonight's storm are encouraged to submit a report to the Boone County Office of Emergency Management as soon as it is safe to do so. Timely reporting helps local officials and public safety assess the scope of damage and coordinate an appropriate response.

Residents are reminded to stay safe and avoid downed power lines or other hazardous conditions when assessing damage. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.
