Boone County Government to Transition to Official .GOV Website Domain
COLUMBIA, Mo. (November 17, 2025) - Boone County Government is preparing to launch its new official website domain, https://www.boonemo.gov. The launch, which will occur in phases, will begin to go live on November 20, 2025, and will continue across all County Offices through the end of May 2026. This move from the current domains - showmeboone.com, boonecountymo.org and boonemo.org - represents a significant step forward in enhancing the County's digital security, transparency, and public trust.
The .GOV domain is reserved exclusively for local and federal government entities within the United States, providing an added layer of credibility and cybersecurity. By moving to .GOV, Boone County is ensuring residents can more easily recognize the website as an official and trustworthy source for county services, news, and updates. "Our transition to a .GOV domain is a major step toward reinforcing public confidence in our digital services," said Kip Kendrick, Presiding Commissioner. "It assures the public that they are accessing secure information directly from their local government."
