Columbia, Mo. (April 27, 2010)—Boone County Administrator Cathy D. Richards has been elected as vice president for region six of the Missouri Association of Public Administrators (MAPA). Her term will begin in 2011.
Richards was elected to the position at the 2010 Annual MAPA Convention and Training Meeting in Hannibal, Mo. April 19 to 22. The organization consists of nine regions, each represented by a vice president. Region six includes 16 counties: Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Camden, Howard, Gasconade, Maries, Miller, Morgan, Montgomery, Phelps, Pulaski, Osage and Moniteau.
As Public Administrator, Richards is instructed by the court to assume responsibility as a conservator or guardian for individuals who can no longer make good decisions for themselves. Boone County has more than 390 wards/clients under the care of the Public Administrator.
