Boone County Named Top Ten By Center for Digital Government

July 26, 2017— For the eighth year in a row, Boone County earned recognition for successful outcomes through strategic use of information and communications technology. On Thursday, July 20, the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties announced the top ten counties in each of five population categories, including Boone County, which ranked tenth place amongst counties with a population between 150,000 and 249,999. Boone County has been ranked in the top ten among counties of similar population for twelve of the past thirteen years.

The 15th Annual Digital Counties Survey, which is open to all U.S. counties, is conducted by the Center for Digital Government in partnership with the National Association of Counties. The self-report survey offers counties an opportunity to share the outcomes they have accomplished through the strategic use of technology.

"Digital counties are leveraging technology to improve the ways they conduct business and engage with citizens in increasingly innovative and exciting ways," said Todd Sander, executive director, CDG. "The Center for Digital Government congratulates this year’s winners for their work to reduce costs, encourage citizen engagement, increase efficiencies and proactively address citizen expectations."

Jason Warzinik, Boone County GIS Director, accepted the award on behalf of Boone County at the 2017 NACo Annual Conference and Exposition. It will be presented to Boone County Information Technology at the Commission meeting Tuesday, August 9 at 9:30AM in the Boone County Commission Chambers.
