Things you may have missed...

Board Appointment

On Thursday, the Boone County Commission appointed Jack E. Beard to the Board of Parks.

Hospital Board Interviews Completed

On Friday, the Boone County Commission and members of the Boone Hospital Board of Trustees met with the final three candidates for the vacant seat on the hospital board. The finalists are Senior Vice-President of Commercial Lending at Commerce Bank Joseph R. Miller, Chariman and CEO of Columbia Insurance Group Robert J. Wagner and retired neurologist Quinton M. Ditmore. The Boone County Commission will make an appointment prior to the Board's June 21 meeting.

Coming Up...

Prescription Drop Off

The Boone County Sheriff's Department will host a prescription drug drop-off Saturday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. The purpose of the event is to keep Boone County kids safe by disposing of old medications and talking with them about making healthy choices.

Lunch in the Park

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services will celebrate its 10th year of providing nutritional summertime lunches to children 18 years of age or younger. Lunch in the Park will begin Monday, June 14 at Douglass Park. The USDA-funded program, an extension of the school free and reduced lunch program, will run through August 14. Lunch will be served every weekday (except July 5) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

In 2009, the Lunch in the Park program served over 4,100 lunches. The complete, wholesome meals are prepared by Columbia Public Schools and served by volunteers. Persons interested in volunteering should contact Cindy Mustard at the Voluntary Action Center.

Commissioner Answers Your Questions

Northern Boone County Commissioner Skip Elkin will be on KFRU's Morning Meeting program Wednesday, June 16 at 9 a.m. He will discuss the latest county news and answer questions from callers.

City/County Meeting

The Boone County Commission will meet with City of Columbia manager Bill Watkins Thursday, June 17 at 3 p.m. at the Columbia City Hall, 701 E Broadway, Columbia, MO 65201. The meeting agenda will be provided by the City.
