Assists county offices in maintaining mail piece standards which meet USPS regulations and acts as primary contact for all USPS regulations; Counting and recording incoming and outgoing mail pieces processed; and completes forms and tracks information for insured, certified, and registered mail. Sorts mail according to destination and recipient, folds and inserts documents into envelopes, both by hand and machine, weighs and computes postage, collects and handles all outgoing packages using parcel shipping vendors. Operates and performs routine maintenance on folding and inserting machines along with postage machine; Maintains mailroom procedures and processes in conjunction with USPS regulations to receive discounted postage when possible. Provides excellent customer service to all county offices, processes information in accordance with department procedures, enters data into multiple computer systems, completes and maintains reports using MS Excel, MS Word, and other software applications. Maintains budget and accounts payable for department, orders and receives supplies, maintains and reconcile records of expenditures, and investigates and implements procedures to reduce costs, and responsible for the inventory of envelopes, paper, and toner cartridges. Attends educational seminars to stay up to date on all mailing industry standards and procedures. Assists county offices with document scanning and filing.

High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of related clerical or customer service experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; typing skills and familiarity with computer software programs; (Typing test required 40wpm) MS Word and Excel experience required (Excel test required); must have a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must meet minimum qualifications set forth by the FBI and MSHP CJIS Security policy.

Preferred Skills: 

Preferred qualifications include excellent organizational and customer service skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Starting Hourly Pay Rate: 

$13.43 - $14.14
