A Detention Officer works primarily inside the Boone County Jail in direct face-to-face interaction with detainees. The job duties of a Detention Officer include:
Ensures the safety of staff, detainees, and the public by directing, controlling, and documenting detainee movement inside and outside the facility
Oversees intake and release
Manages visitation
Records maintenance
Provides transport
Facility security
Full-time, non-exempt, benefited
6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. AND 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Must be able to work either shift at the department's discretion.
Columbia, Missouri
High school diploma or equivalent
Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
No felony convictions.
Must pass a medical examination, psychological assessment, a pre-employment drug screen, and an FBI fingerprint background check

$22.78/hour. Potential for shift differential.
