Performs high level professional accounting and budgeting functions for all funds within the County; Coordinates the preparation of the County's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and other County-wide financial reporting activities; Reviews accounting transactions generated by other County offices and provides accounting guidance and correction as needed to ensure compliance with the County's financial policies and standards; Develops and implements financial forecasts, projections, and long-range financial planning activities; Plans and coordinates the internal budget preparation process for Auditor's Office staff; Coordinates with high level employees of the County in the preparation, review, and production of the County budget; Prepares and reviews changes to the budget and assesses budgetary impact; Other projects as assigned.


Full Time, benefited, non-exempt

Working hours: 

Primarily 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required (position is eligible for overtime pay).

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field and a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience as an accountant, with some of the experience specific to governmental entities, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The qualified candidate must also possess a proficient knowledge of spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel or equivalent), word processing software (Microsoft Word or equivalent), considerable knowledge of and experience with automated accounting systems (IBM AS400, IBM iSeries, or similar), and knowledge and experience with data base tools such as AS400 query or Microsoft Access. Proficient knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, particularly governmental accounting standards is preferred. The successful candidate must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as effective interpersonal skills; must possess high attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; must possess critical thinking and advanced analytical skills; and be able to work independently without close supervision. Starting pay dependent on qualifications.

Starting Hourly Pay Rate: 

$24.27 - $25.79 per hour
