Boone County Jail Population Study to be Presented to Judicial & Law Enforcement Task Force

Retired 13th Circuit Court Judge Gary Oxenhandler will present the 2017 Boone County Jail Population Study to the Boone County Judicial & Law Enforcement Task Force on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 4:30PM in the Boone County Government Center Commission Chambers. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this discussion of Judge Oxenhandler's findings.
On behalf of the Boone County Commission, Judge Oxenhandler has prepared a study of the historical and current status of the jail population in the Boone County Jail. The request for the study came in response to the increased cost of housing prisoners both in and out of the Jail. The Commission recognizes the importance of assessing whether the increase is short-term or long-term and the potential impact this will have on Boone County. The completed study was presented to the Boone County Commission on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
