Food Establishment Operating Permit Information

With Commission Order 605-2012, the Boone County Commission readopted Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8; and revised Chapter 9 of the Code of Health Regulations for Boone County, Missouri. Chapter 9 gives the County Commission the authority to establish reasonable fees (see Commission Order 488-2017) to pay for the costs incurred with inspecting establishments and enforcing the Boone County Food Code.

The Boone County Collector has the responsibility of collecting the fees and issuing a food establishment operating permit. The operating permit is valid July 1 through June 30. The fees are based on gross receipts, less revenue not related to food, and a public health priority factor. The following table represents the permit fees for Boone County, effective May 1, 2018.

GROSS RECEIPTS $0-$250,000 $175 $270 $360
$250,000-$750,000 $260 $355 $435
> $750,000 $345 $430 $525

TEMPORARY FOOD PERMITS: Effective February 1, 2013, persons conducting a temporary food event (an event lasting less than fifteen (15) days), shall pay an inspection fee of Thirty Dollars ($30.00). Notwithstanding the foregoing, there will be no fees charged for temporary food permits for events for which there is only one (1) food vendor participating.

REINSPECTION FEES: Effective February 1, 2013, in addition to the Basic Fees set out above, food establishments shall pay an administrative service fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per inspection for second and subsequent reinspections required to confirm corrections of violations noted during the inspection process.

The collector's office accepts license and permit payments by cash, personal check, cashier's check, bank draft, money order or credit cards. One check may be written for multiple bills of licenses or permits, personal property, and/or real estate, if the total of the bills are added correctly. The entire amount due for the license or permit must be paid before one can be issued. Please do not send cash through the mail. License or permit fees cannot be paid online or by phone.

Please see the Methods of Tax Payment page for detailed information.
