The Child Support Program in the State of Missouri is administered by the Department of Social Services Family Support Division-Child Support Enforcement (FSD-CSE). Missouri has enacted laws that allow the Family Support Division to collect child support through wage withholdings, garnishments, unemployment and tax intercepts, and liens without having to file a collection action through court.

Child Support services through the FSD-CSE are available without cost to all Missouri residents and are provided automatically to custodial parents who receive Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) payments for dependent children.

FSD-CSE is the agency that initially handles all cases. If they cannot adequately resolve the issue, they refer the case to the appropriate prosecuting attorney's office. The Child Support Unit of the prosecutor's office only works cases that are referred by FSD-CSE. This office does not have the authority to act without a proper case referral.
