Columbia-Boone County Homelessness Summit to be held November 17 and 18, 2016

The 2016 Columbia-Boone County Homelessness Summit is being hosted Thursday, November 17, 2016, and Friday, November 18, 2016 by the Heart of Missouri United Way, the City of Columbia and County of Boone. The Homelessness Summit will be held in Columbia City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. The summit will run in three sessions: the first from 1:00PM until 4:00PM on Thursday, November 17; the second from 6:30PM until 9:30PM on Thursday; and the third from 8:00AM until 12:00PM on Friday, November 18. While each session will feature discussion of different aspects of the issues presented, attendance at all three sessions is not required.
Three national keynote speakers will speak from 6:30PM until 9:30PM. These speakers include Linda Kaufman of New York City-based City Solutions; Sarah Buss of Boulder County (CO) Housing & Human Services; and Jason McRoy of Boulder County (CO) Housing & Human Services.
The Homelessness Summit is free and open to the public. This summit will provide the opportunity to build consensus on the most critical needs of homeless populations in our community; learn about innovative strategies other communities are utilizing to address homelessness; and identify the most critical actions our community should take to address homelessness. More than 130 individuals from local human services, VA, nonprofit, government and volunteer sectors have registered for the event so far.
