Boone County Commission approves renaming of Boone County Fairgrounds

The property formerly known as the Boone County Fairgrounds has a new name to go with its new management. After two public hearings, the Boone County Commission approved the name change on Tuesday, March 27 at the evening Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. While many Boone Countians will continue to refer to the area as the fairgrounds, the official name is now The Central Missouri Event Center, Home of the Boone County Fair. The change will help to identify the property in terms of its multi-functionality for people coming from out of town or out of state to attend events. Although the Boone County Fair is an important tradition, it only occupies the property for one week of the year; a wide variety of other events occupy the property during the other 51 weeks of the year.

Past and present Boone County Commissioners to gather for roundtable discussion

On Friday, April 6, Boone County Commissions past and present will gather over lunch to discuss current events in Boone County. Commissioners having served terms dating back to 1985 will be represented at the gathering in the Boone County Commission Chambers. By hosting the meeting, Presiding Commissioner Dan Atwill and District I Commissioner Karen M. Miller will have the opportunity to learn from the knowledge and experience of their predecessors.
