COLUMBIA, APRIL 14, 2011 — Nicole Galloway was appointed Boone County Treasurer by Governor Jay Nixon on April 13, 2011, and will be officially sworn in by the Boone County Clerk. She fills the position after the passing of Treasurer Jan Fugit.

Galloway said that her priorities after being sworn in will be to run an office that is open, accessible and accountable to Boone County taxpayers. She said that she will be focused on ensuring county money is invested safely and securely, that investments have the liquidity necessary to meet the county’s cash flow needs and that investments achieve the best return possible.

Galloway is a certified public accountant and was previously a corporate auditor at Shelter Insurance in Columbia.  She is currently seeking her certified fraud examiner designation. Prior to joining Shelter, Nicole was an auditor for Brown Smith Wallace, LLC, a public accounting firm in the St. Louis area, where she audited insurance and reinsurance companies throughout the country to ensure compliance with state accounting rules. Nicole also worked as an actuarial analyst with Allstate Insurance in the Chicago area.

Galloway received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri in 2008. In 2004, she graduated from the Missouri University of Science and Technology with degrees in Applied Mathematics and Economics.
