Elected

Skip Elkin (Democrat) was sworn into office as Boone County's District II Commissioner on January 1, 2001.

Experience

After graduating from Hallsville High School, Skip proudly served for four years in the United States Marine Corp. He then graduated in May of 2000 with a B.S. Degree in Marketing from William Woods University. Currently, along with his job as Northern District Commissioner, Skip is serving with the Missouri Army National Guard.

Skip's political career began in Hallsville in 1994 as a committeeman. In 1995, he was elected to the Hallsville City Council.

Skip and his wife Lucy have two beautiful daughters: Kathryn age 19, a freshman at the University of Missouri-Columbia; and Alexandra (Alex) age 13, an eighth grade student at Hallsville Schools.

Since Skip's induction into office, his priorities have been focused on the following issues: establishing a responsible growth for Boone County, infrastructure (which includes roads and sewer) and the Boone County Fairgrounds. Skip also believes in being responsible stewards of tax payer dollars.

In addition to Skip serving as liaison to the Purchasing Department, he also serves on the following boards:

Airport Advisory Board of Parks Commission Boone County Senior Citizens Services Corp (The Bluffs) Boone County Solid Waste Executive Board Boone County Solid Waste Management Council Boone County Solid Waste Management District Boone Hospital Center Board (BHCB) Columbia Area Transportation System (CATSO) Community Partnership Board (CPB) Transportation Community Partnership (TCP) Community Services Advisory Commission Conventions & Visitor's Bureau (CVB) Facilities Maintenance Fairgrounds Purchasing Senior Board Staff Liaison and Intern Liaison Worker's Compensation Committee (WCC) At one time, Skip also served on the following Boards and Councils: District VII Director – Missouri Association of Counties On-Site Waste Water Review Board Soil and Water Conservation District Tourism Council University Extension Council
