OPENINGS FOR CITY/COUNTY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

Board of Health

Four County appointees The Board meets on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Health Department. The Board acts as an advisory board to the County Commission and the Health Director on matters involving public health and animal control. (Term - 3 years) One vacancy expiring 4/28/2011.One Vacancy for one Veterinarian expiring 8/31/2011 or until filled. Applications for all vacancies will be accepted until filled.


 

Boone County Community Services Advisory

Three county appointees, Monthly meetings are held the third Tuesday at the Boone County Health Department, 1005 W. Worley beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Commission serves to assure availability of services to individuals experiencing difficulty in meeting basic human needs. They encourage the delivery of appropriate services from organizations which can deliver and underwrite the cost of the services. (Term – 3 Years)

One Vacancy term expiring 12/31/11 Applications for all vacancies will be accepted until filled. 

 

 

Building Code Commission

Eight member Board, and one County Commissioner which meets on call; the Board reviews construction code requirements and advises the County Commission on specific aspects of the Building Codes.  (Term – 2 years) 

One Vacancy expiring 8/31/2012 Applications for all vacancies will be accepted until filled.


Road & Bridge Advisory Committee

Voluntary committee consisting of thirteen members selected as follows; Public Works Director, County Commissioner, Representative from Planning Department and ten Boone County Citizens. One Boone County resident of the unincorporated area of each of the ten townships will be selected. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Roger B Wilson Boone County Government Center Chambers. (Term – 4 years)

Four Vacancies representing, Bourbon Township expiring 2/02/2012, Centralia Township expiring 6/30/2010, Three Creeks Township expiring 5/25/2014, Katy Township expiring 4/15/2011 Applications for these vacancies will be accepted until filled.

 


 

Boone County Industrial Development Authority

 

The Industrial Development Authority (IDA) of the County of Boone is a local quasi-governmental corporation organized under Chapter 349 of the Revised Statute of Missouri. The IDA was formed in 1979 to facilitate the issuance of tax-free industrial development bonds for the development of commercial, industrial, agricultural and manufacturing facilities in the county. The IDA is governed by a nine member board that is appointed by the Boone County Commission. (Term – 6 years) One Vacancy expired 12/31/11 Applications for this vacancy will be accepted until filled.


 

Boone County Energy & Environment Commission

 

Four County appointees, monthly meetings are the fourth Tuesday of each month on the 3rd floor Daniel Boone Building at 7:00 p.m. The Commission serves in an advisory capacity in all matters pertaining to environmental protection and assists in the planning of environmental improvements. They also assist in the promotion and stimulation of public interest. (Term – 3 Years) One Vacancy expired January 31st, 2012 Applications for this vacancy will be accepted until filled.


Boone County Board of Adjustment

 

Five member board which meets the fourth Thursday in the Boone County Government Center Chambers at 7:00 p.m. The Board reviews requests for a variance from the strict application of the Zoning and Subdivision Regulations. The board shall consist of five residents of the county, but not more than two shall be residents of the incorporated area of the county and not more than one may be a member of the county zoning commission. RSMo. 64.870

Boone County Judicial & Law Enforcement Task Force

 

Judicial & Law Enforcement Task Force – A seven member board comprised of non-stakeholder citizens. To study available resources and to create a plan to maximize the effective long-term use of the Boone County Jail, the Courthouse and Sheriffs Office, while meeting the needs of Boone County for continued, quality law enforcement and a balanced budget. The Task Force meets on call. (Term – 3 years) Two Vacancies expiring February 21st, 2012 Applications for this vacancy will be accepted until filled.


Boone County Building Code Board of Appeals

 

Ten member board with one being from each Township in Boone County; at least seven of the ten members shall be a licensed professional engineer or architect or a contractor representing one of the building trades, or superintendent of building construction, and there shall not be more than two members of the board selected from the same profession or business; and at least one of the professional engineers shall be a licensed structural or civil engineer or have architectural engineering experience. The Board reviews requests for a variance from the provisions of the Building Code. The Board meets on call.

Boone County Vicious Dog Advisory Board

 

Anadvisory board consisting of persons appointed by the Boone County Commission which evaluates evidence concerning dogs which are claimed to be vicious, and makes a recommendation of their classification and disposition to the Health Department Director. The Board shall consist of five members, consisting of one licensed veterinarian, one animal control officer, and one member from the public at large. The Board will convene at the request of the Health Director. (Term – 3 years) Two Vacancies expiring 11/30/2012 Applications for these vacancies will be accepted until filled.


Boone County Board of Equalization

 

Eight member Board which consists of the County Commission, a representative of the City of Columbia, and two citizens at large. The County Assessor and County Clerk, who is the Secretary of the Board are non-voting members. Citizens at large on the Board must possess a level of experience as a real estate broker, real estate appraiser, home builder, property developer, lending officer, or investor in real estate. The goal of the Board is to review tax assessments to be certain that each parcel is fairly assessed at the mandated proportion of market value. (Term – 4 years) One Vacancy expired12/12/2011 Applications for this vacancy will be accepted until filled.
