Things you may have missed...

County Begins Preparation of 2011 Budget

On Wednesday, the Boone County Commission, Boone County Treasurer Jan Fugit and Boone County Auditor June Pitchford met for a budget planning session. Throughout August, the Commission will communicate with outside entities and conduct work sessions as needed with department directors. All non-court budget requests are due to the auditor by Sept.1. The Commission will conduct public hearings and work sessions in November once the proposed budget is completed. They plan to have the budget finalized and adopted by mid-December.

Commissioner Gives County Update to Rotary Club

On Tuesday, Southern Boone County Commissioner Karen M. Miller gave a presentation on the state of the county to the Northwest Rotary Club. Miller talked about the County's budget system and economic outlook. She also highlighted recently completed and in-progress County projects.

Board Appointment

At the Thursday Boone County Commission meeting Colleen S. Walker was appointed to the Boone County Health Trust Committee.

The primary election for Boone County will be held Aug. 3. Polling places are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

National Biker Roundup

Between 35,000 and 50,000 people will participate in the 33rd annual National Biker Roundup Aug. 3 to 8 at the Boone County Fairgrounds, 5212 N. Oakland Gravel Rd. Columbia, Mo. 65202. The minimum direct economic impact for the event is projected to be more than $6 million, with an expected impact of at least $11.4 million.
