9-1-1 Proclamation: On Wednesday, the Commission issued a proclamation along with the City of Columbia in honor of National Telecommunications Week April 11 to 17. The Columbia/Boone County Public Safety Joint Communications Center hosted an open house to
give public safety personnel and citizens the chance to tour the 9-1-1 operations center.
Board Appointment: On Thursday, the Commission appointed Ted Jeffries to the Judicial & Law Enforcement Task Force.
Legislative Breakfast: The Boone County Commission will host a legislative breakfast Monday, April 19 to thank the Boone County delegation for their work in Jefferson City this session.
Public Meeting on Hinkson Creek: On Tuesday, April 20, Boone County will host a public discussion on the draft Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for Hinkson Creek. This event will be held at the Roger B. Wilson Government Center, Commission Chambers, 801 E. Walnut, Columbia, Mo. from 2 to 4 p.m. Staff and decision makers from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be on hand to answer questions and listen to comments. If you have any questions and would like to submit them to DNR before the public meeting on Tuesday, please forward those questions by 3 p.m. Friday, April 16 to Bill Florea at BFlorea@boonecountymo.org. The draft TMDL can be found here: http://www.dnr.mo.gov/env/wpp/tmdl/pn-hinkson-ck.htm. The public comment period ends April 22, 2010.
Commissioner on KFRU: Northern Commissioner Skip Elkin will be on KFRU's Morning Meeting program Wednesday, April 21 at 9 a.m. Elkin will discuss the latest County news and take calls from listeners. He will be joined by the Columbia Youth Basketball Association.
National Crime Victims' Week: Boone County will observe National Crime Victims' Rights Week with a ceremony on Wednesday, April 21 at 3 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at the Roger B. Wilson Government Center, 801 E.Walnut, Columbia, Mo. 65201. Featured speakers include representatives from local agencies who serve crime victims, the Missouri Department of Corrections, Boone County elected officials and a survivor of violent crime. Bid Openings: On Thursday, April 22, the Boone County Commission will open bids for the Peabody Road asphalt overlay and the Hinton Road asphalt overlay.
