4/25/11 - Improvements to St. Charles Road delayed until Tuesday, April 26

Due to the anticipated heavy rains, improvements to St. Charles Road scheduled to begin today will be delayed. The actual closure of St. Charles Road is now scheduled to take place Tuesday, April 26 at 8 a.m. Traffic control and detour signs were installed today that will direct traffic onto Mexico Gravel Road, but these signs shall remain turned down until the actual road closing tomorrow. The planned closure of St. Charles Road for this phase of the project is estimated to last for 4-5 weeks.

Because of bridge construction on Route WW, about 1,400 Boone County voters are being rerouted from the polling place originally assigned for the upcoming April 5 election. According to Boone County Clerk Wendy Noren, voters involved in the polling place reassignment are in precincts 25 and 34 who were originally assigned to the American Legion on Route WW and who live east of the closed bridge.

Boone County's FY2009 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This is the 26th year that the county has won this award for its CAFR. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

3/22/11 - Boone County aerial mapping begins

Beginning Wednesday, March 23, 2011, the Sanborn Map Company will begin a process of aerial photography in order to create updated maps of Boone, Cole and Callaway counties. Two to four aircraft will begin the process of photographing the three counties, which is expected to take two days to complete. The counties have joined efforts on this year's aerial photography in order to reduce costs and overhead.
