Mission Statement
The Planning Division of the Planning & Building Inspection Department serves as staff to the County Commission on matters dealing with land use. This includes the application and enforcement of zoning regulations and subdivision regulations. The division also provides staff support to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment. The division provides information and assistance to the general public on all land use related matters.
The Building Code Division of the Planning and Building Inspection Department is responsible for inspecting new construction, including footings, under-floor plumbing, framing, electrical wiring, plumbing, insulation and final inspection.
The division also inspects mobile homes for compliance with electric code, location and set-up requirements.
The division works closely with architects, engineers, contractors and the general public. The division provides information regarding construction standards and code requirements prior to and during construction.
