Finding Help in Boone County

There are many public and private mental health and substance abuse resources and facilities in Boone County that are committed to the prevention and treatment of such issues. These resources and facilities are professionally staffed and offer high-quality services. When in need of help or assistance, there are six resources that can provide information and referral. Five are community-based and certified, and are partially funded by the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH). The sixth is Mid-Missouri Mental Health Center under the sponsorship of the DMH. To seek help, contact the intake worker at any of the agencies, provide a description of the problem and ask for a referral to the most appropriate resource. In an extreme crisis or emergency, call 911 or go to the emergency room at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia Regional Hospital or the University of Missouri Health Center.
