Ken Pearson (Democrat) was elected Boone County Presiding Commissioner on November 7, 2006. He was sworn in to office on January 1, 2007.

Ken first came to mid-Missouri from Illinois in 1968. After attending Southern Illinois University, where he earned a bachelor’s in government and economics, followed by a master’s in government, Ken enrolled in graduate school at the University of Missouri, Columbia. However, Ken was soon drafted into the Army, served his country in Vietnam and received a bronze star for his service.

Upon his discharge, Ken returned to MU, where he met and married Dinah Drane, a member of the Drane family from Harrisburg. Before moving into Columbia nearly 20 years ago, Ken and Dinah operated the family farm in rural Boone County for ten years.

Ken and Dinah have two adult daughters, Laurel and Erin. Laurel is a graduate student in genetics at Penn State University, and Erin is a pre-med biology major at Louisiana State University. Active in church and other civic groups, Ken has more than 27 years experience in public service with the Missouri Department of Revenue, where he managed a staff of 250 employees.

Ken will work to improve communication with citizens of Boone County and provide effective and efficient services to the citizens of Boone County through continuous process improvement. He is responsible for the Public Works Department and serves on the following boards:
